Mainzer Weihnachts Markt

The Christmas season has begun and it wouldn't be Christmas in Germany without all the Christmas markets. My friend Sabrina told me about this awesome market which is in Mainz, She is from there so has been to this one many times! Anyways this market was the happenin place to be that night, there were SOOOOO many people there. We met this nice couple from Detroit, they traveled to Germany to see all the different Christmas Markets, they loved it i recommended they go to the one in Frankfurt it's the biggest one i've been to so far.......Okay so it was pretty funny i decided to drive to Mainz, i guess i just felt like driving fast on the autobahn that day ha ha. Ya i'm sure Andrew and i will have lots of tickets coming our way once we get to the states. Anyways once we entered Mainz i saw a bunch of lights so figured it must be the market since they tend to always be in the middle of the city, which ended up being the train station. But hey they did have a few little stands and the market was only a few blocks from where we were! I LOVE THIS it's alot bigger than in the picture, these are very popular in Germany this is a life sized pyramid but they have small ones that you can display in your house, which there is a place at the bottom for four little candles that make the top spin. Germans light one candle on each sunday of the month until Christmas! It's AMAZING how everything on them is hand carved and painted they are so beautiful. There are tons of little stands like this one with all different kinds of Christmas decor, the most popular things here in Germany seem to be the hand carved wooden decorations which are amazing. There is also stands with Brats, hot wine, pizza oh and one thing we did try were roasted chestnuts they sound disgusting but i actually liked them. Andrew didn't like them to much!This was a huge manger scene i didn't get the best picture since there were so many people. Germany also loves coca-cola, if you have a diet drink such as diet coke it's called cola light. (i'm so used to saying cola light for sure now.) Andrew and Zoey how cute! This is the entrance into the market it was freezing as you can tell Andrw has like three layers on and it's very rare he gets that cold. ha ha OH BABY...... We love taking Zoey with us Germany is all about their dogs and you can take them pretty much anywhere, very different than in the states. We might have a hard time adjusting back to American customs ha ha.
